Underdog
Pirates busy at work
By

NEW ORLEANS —
East Carolina and Louisiana-Lafayette both worked out in the
Mercedes-Benz Superdome and several players and coaches from
each team participated in media day on a busy Thursday at
the New Orleans Bowl.
Pirate coach
Ruffin McNeill and Ragin' Cajun coach Mark Hudspeth each
spoke to the media along with five players from each team.
Both coaches said they thought this would be a very even
football game that might come down to turnovers and special
teams play.
ULL continues
as a six-point favorite. East Carolina is going for its
first bowl win since
the Hawaii Bowl in 2007.
The Cajuns beat San Diego State in last year's New Orleans
Bowl on a 50-yard field goal as time ran out. The team
duplicated a long field goal attempt at that distance today
at practice, and word was that the kick was once again good.
ECU
quarterback Shane Carden says this Pirate team has come to
New Orleans with a workman-like attitude. He says the guys
have had fun, but that they know there is a job to do on
Saturday. [Replay
the audio of Carden's interview...]
Photographers
usually get to shoot a good 15 to 20 minutes of practice for
East Carolina. Coach McNeill had the cameras off early
today, putting in the final game plan for Saturday.
Tomorrow both
teams will participate in the annual New Orleans Bowl
luncheon. All practices on Friday are closed to the media.
