Pirates finish with a
flourish

It took UNC-Greensboro
little more than three minutes to score the game's first ten points, but
East Carolina went on a dominating spree of its own in the game's
closing moments to win on the Spartans' home court Saturday night, 72-64.
Juniors Jeremy Ingram and
Darrell Jenkins each scored 19, senior Courtney Captain recorded 10
points and 7 rebounds, and freshman John Fields had 8 points and 5
blocked shots as the Pirates outscored UNCG by 18 over the games final
36:49.
ECU (2-1), which trailed
at the half 34-33, closed out the game on a 12-4 run over the final
2:37, making eight of nine from the line, to finish off the Spartans in
front of a Fleming Gym capacity crowd of 1,831.
UNCG, coached by East
Carolina alum Mike Dement, had four players in double figures. Kyle
Hines and Dwayne Johnson each had 13 points and Ricky Hickman and Mikko
Koivisto both scored 12.
The Spartans
defeated the Pirates last season in
Greenville, 78-70.
ECU returns home for a
pair of games during Thanksgiving week. The Pirates will host Limestone
on Tuesday at 7 p.m., and, in a game rescheduled from its original date
of
Saturday, Nov. 25, will face North Carolina Central on Sunday, Nov. 26,
at 3:30 p.m.
