Pirate Baseball
Quick Notes (03/25/02)
From C-USA Media Relations
East Carolina suffered its
first three-game series sweep at home in nearly two years as Texas
Christian beat the Pirates three straight times this past weekend. The
last visiting team to win three in a row at ECU's Harrington Field was
Old Dominion in April 2000.
After getting off to a 13-1
start this year, the Pirates have only one win in their last seven
games. Part of the problem has been a dry spell for the Pirates' bats.
ECU hit .333 through its first 15 games, but has hit just .225 in its
last six, all Conference USA contests.
With 11 home runs, freshman
first baseman/outfielder Darryl Lawhorn needs three more to break the
school's season record for most homers by a freshman. He entered this
weekend leading C-USA in home runs (11) and runs batted in (31).
