East Carolina
has picked up another commitment for football. Bryson Bowling, a Science
Hill, TN, wide receiver-defensive back has verbally cast his lot with the
Pirates, reports Bonesville's Brian Bailey in today's
'From the Anchor Desk' column.
New Washington Redskins' Coach Steve Spurrier
is a graduate of Science Hill High School, which is located in Johnson City.
Bowling picked ECU over Clemson, Georgia Southern, East Tennessee State and Western
Carolina.
The swift and lanky Bowling was named
First-team All-State Class 5A by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association as
a wide receiver. He garnered a second-team spot on the Associated Press
All-State Team at the same position.
A 6-3, 165-pound, multi-talented athlete,
Bowling also won a Big 9 Conference decathlon championship with strong
performances in the sprints, triple-jump and pole vault.
Though it is still three weeks until signing day,
it is believed that East Carolina
has already received commitments from 20 or more players.
A verbal commitments is not binding but signals a
prospect's intention to ink a formal letter-of-intent on signing day. The NCAA's official signing day for the 2002 recruiting class is February 6.
Bowling is the 14th known commitment posted to
Bonesville.net's football recruiting page. For the complete list of
