Recruiting Classes
Bonesville.net Staff
As signing day looms,
East Carolina's recruiting efforts have been rewarded with a pair of
significant late commitments. The list of known verbal pledges rises to 24
with decisions by a coveted receiver and a prize offensive lineman to become
Pirates. ECU has also gotten off to an early start putting together its 2003
recruiting class.
Iverick Harris, a physical and swift
wide receiver from Burlington Cummings High School, and
Drew Sutton, a king-size offensive lineman from Warner
Robins, GA, High School, are expected to formally sign on Wednesday.
Harris paid visits to N.C. State and Virginia and Sutton visited Georgia
during the recruiting process, while ECU's other new commitment, junior
Michael Horner, decided to simplify the recruiting rigors a
year ahead of time.
Horner, a defensive tackle from Williamston High School, has committed to
join the Pirates in 2003, following a long line of star Tiger athletes who
have gone on to play at ECU.
A verbal commitments is not binding but signals a
prospect's intention to ink a formal letter-of-intent on signing day. The NCAA's official signing day for the 2002 recruiting class is
Wednesday, February 6.
