Pirates continue strong run at NCAA meet

ECU's 4x400 squad to make 9th appearance in finals

Baton Rouge, LA — The East Carolina track team completed another successful day Thursday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by LSU at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium.

Junior Julien Dunkley qualified for Friday's 100 meter semi-finals. Dunkley finished 14th in the preliminaries today, finishing the event in 10.46 seconds. The top nine from the semi-finals will go on to Saturday's finals.

The Pirates' 4x400 meter relay team of senior Lawrence Ward, freshman Domonick Richmond, junior Frankie Green, and freshman B.J. Henderson finished sixth in 3:05.34 to qualify for Saturday's finals.

Henderson failed to qualify for the 400 meter dash finals, finishing in 12th place in 45.91 seconds.

This is the ninth time a 4x400 meter relay team from ECU has qualified for the NCAA finals. The highest finish for the Pirates in the event has been third, last accomplished during the 2000 Indoor Championships.

Friday's action includes the finals of the 4x100 relay at 7:00 p.m. and the semi-finals of the 100 meter dash at 7:40 p.m..
