Pirates hang on to No. 29 spot in Collegiate Baseball poll

GREENVILLE — East Carolina made its 2002 debut in the Baseball America Top 25 college baseball rankings this week, coming in at No. 25 in the poll released Monday.

The Pirates swept Delaware, an NCAA Regional participant last season, in a three-game series last weekend, winning 10-6 on Friday, 3-2 in 10 innings on Saturday, and 9-0 on Sunday.

ECU continues to hold the No. 29 spot in the Collegiate Baseball poll. The Pirates have been ranked in at least one of the three major college baseball polls since May 2000. Last season, East Carolina climbed to as high as ninth nationally before finishing the year at No. 11 in all three polls.

ECU hosts Virginia Commonwealth on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Harrington Field.
