Hoops looms: Hook up with the Pirates day or night

GREENVILLE — East Carolina will hold its first "Late Night With The Pirates" Friday, Oct. 25 in Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum and its annual "Meet The Pirates" event Saturday, Nov. 2.

Doors will open at 7:45 p.m. for "Late Night With The Pirates". Admission is free to both ECU students and the public. The night will feature contests in which selected students will have the opportunity to compete in a three-point shot contest and against head coach Bill Herrion in a game of "HORSE". Two ECU students will have a chance to win free books for the spring semester from Dowdy Student Stores or a $1,000 tuition scholarship from Pepsi. The Pirates will also hold an abbreviated scrimmage and slam dunk contest.

The "Meet the Pirates" occasion will be held in the Harvey Banquet Hall of the Murphy Center from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 2. Tickets for the event, which include lunch, are $7.00 and must be purchased in advance by calling the ECU Athletic Marketing Department at (252) 328-4530. Fans will have the opportunity to mingle with and get autographs from members of the ECU men's and women's and basketball teams. Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase season tickets and choose their seats from those available while at the venue. Anyone placing a new season ticket order will receive a free lunch at the event for each new season ticket purchased.

Prior to the "Meet the Pirates" luncheon, men's basketball practice will be open to the public beginning at 11:30 a.m., while fans will also have the opportunity to take in women's basketball practice from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
