Pirates adjust schedule

East Carolina postponed the start of its American Athletic Conference series with Connecticut on Friday due to rain.

The teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. today with the second game scheduled to follow approximately 45 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.

The third game remains scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Pirates are 24-13 overall and 5-4 in the AAC. UConn comes in at 20-16 on the season and 5-3 in league play.

Game one's starting pitchers feature left-hander Evan Kruczynski, who is 5-0 with a 1.69 earned run average for ECU, against lefty Anthony Kay (4-2, 3.08) for the Huskies.

Right-hander Jimmy Boyd (5-2, 2.20) of the Pirates will start game two against lefty Tim Cate (1-1, 1.77).

Probable starters for game three are left-hander Jacob Wolfe (4-3, 2.43) for ECU against right-hander William Montgomerie (3-1, 3.62) for UConn.

Parker Lamm of the Pirates leads the AAC in hitting with a .370 average. Freshman Dwanya Williams-Sutton of ECU is second in the league with a .361 average.

Eric Tyler is hitting .310 for the Pirates with a team-high four home runs.

ECU leads the series with the Huskies, 29-6.

The teams will meet again May 6-8 in another three-game league set at UConn.
