Bonesville Bytes #4 (10
minutes): On
many occasions this fall, East Carolina's
all-purpose
wizard,
Richard Alston, will be the only Pirate senior in
the offensive huddle. ECU head coach Steve Logan
figures the quarterback-turned-wideout will be a
rock-solid source of "support" for newly anointed
Pirate quarterback Paul Troth, who has beefed up
to 245 pounds over the summer and added the long
ball to his already well-developed passing skills.
Logan also sees promise in a restocked and
revitalized defensive unit and he's looking to
Christshawn Gilliam to lead the way...

Bonesville Bytes #3 (20
minutes): Todd
Berry knows how a winning program operates.
He
was Steve Logan's offensive coordinator at East
Carolina from 1992-95, a stretch which included
back-to-back Liberty Bowl bids (1994-95). Berry
took over as head coach at perennial loser
Illinois State in 1996 and resurrected the
program, guiding the Redbirds to consecutive I-AA
playoff runs in 1998-99. These days, Berry is in
the third year of a mammoth rebuilding job of
Army's hallowed program, and he's beginning to
zero in on the light at the end of the tunnel...

Bonesville Bytes #2 (16
minutes): Louisville
head coach John L. Smith, sporting a pair of
ostrich-skin boots, says there's nothing exotic
about what it will take for his team to repeat as
C-USA champion. He's counting on his defense to
keep the Cards in the thick of the race...

Bonesville Bytes #1 (10

Carolina senior H-back/split end
Richard Alston compares the BBQ from east of I-95 to the
Memphis variety and dispenses observations about team leadership,

Gilliam... PLAY >>>
