Game five of the
2007 NCAA Chapel Hill Regional, an elimination contest between East
Carolina and Western Carolina, was put on hold before it started Sunday
afternoon because of wet weather associated with the remnants of
Tropical Storm Barry.
The game, which
was to have gotten underway at 1 p.m. at Boshamer Stadium on the campus
of UNC-Chapel Hill, will instead start at 7 p.m., tournament officials
announced. Gates will open at 6 p.m.
The delay pushed
back the timetable for subsequent competition to determine the regional
title. Instead of squaring off at 5 p.m. Sunday as originally slated,
top-seeded North Carolina will face the winner of the ECU-WCU game on
Monday at 1 p.m. Gates will open at 11 a.m. for that contest.
If the Tar Heels
lose that outing, a final game to determine the champion will be played
following Monday's first game.
