Senior guard Jontae
Sherrod made 4 of 7 three-point shots and scored a game-high 21 points to lead East Carolina to a
76-63 victory
over Campbell Monday night in Greenville.
The Pirates converted 11
of 23 (47.8 percent) from behind the arc, including 4 of 6 (66.7
percent) after intermission when they expanded a 4-point halftime lead
into a comfortable working margin.
Sophomore guards Corvonn
Gaines and Erin Straughn added 12 points and 11 points, respectively, to
help East Carolina (2-0) avenge a loss to the Camels (0-2) last season
in Buies Creek.
Junior forward Eric
Griffin had 15 points and senior forward Preston Dodson and freshman
guard Andrew Ryan added 10 apiece to pace Campbell.
The Pirates now change
their focus to the Charleston (SC) Classic where they are paired in a first
round matchup on with North Carolina State on Thursday (6 p.m.; TV: MASN).
