TCU football television times falling into place
Game times have been set for Texas
Christian's 2005 football season opener at Oklahoma and the Horned Frogs'
home opener and Mountain West Conference debut against Utah.
TCU's game with the Sooners is set for
noon Eastern Time on Saturday, Sept. 3, and will be regionally televised
from Norman, OK, as part of the Big 12 package. It marks the eighth straight
year the Frogs' first game of the season has been selected as a televised
game.
TCU's home opener against Utah is set
for 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, Sept. 15, and will be televised nationally on
ESPN or ESPN2. The contest marks the inaugural MWC game for the Frogs, who
will move to that league from Conference USA this summer.
Officials had announced previously that
TCU's battle with Southern Methodist for the Iron Skillet will be televised
by CSTV beginning at 9:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 10. That game will be
played at SMU.

TCU Athletics reports.
Region recaps involving C-USA, Carolinas teams
Tulane 7, Alabama 4
NEW ORLEANS — Micah Owings, who had a double and two
home runs in Tulane's first two games in the New Orleans NCAA regional, took
the pitching mound Monday night and allowed four runs and struck out six as
the Green Wave beat Alabama 7-4.
Tulane (53-9), the top seed nationally, advanced to
the super regional round after going undefeated in the regional and will
face Rice for a spot in the College World Series.
Alabama (40-23) had lost to Tulane earlier in the
regional. The Crimson Tide beat Louisiana-Lafayette in the losing bracket on
Sunday to reach the championship round.
Georgia Tech 5, South Carolina 0
ATLANTA — Tim Gustafson pitched seven
scoreless innings in the longest appearance of his college career, leading
Georgia Tech past South Carolina 5-0 Monday night in the deciding game of
the Atlanta Regional.
Matt Wieters and Jeremy Slayden hit
back-to-back homers to highlight a three-run third. The Yellow Jackets
(45-17), seeded No. 2 nationally, ended South Carolina's bid for a fourth
straight trip to the College World Series.
Georgia Tech moves on to host Tennessee in
the super regionals next weekend.
The teams were meeting for the third
straight day. Georgia Tech routed the Gamecocks 10-2 on Saturday, but South
Carolina (41-23) fought back for an 8-3 victory Sunday night that forced one
more game.
Rice 5, LSU 4
BATON ROUGE — Greg Buchanan's run-scoring
single in the top of the ninth-inning lifted Rice to a 5-4 victory over LSU
on Monday and sent the Owls into the Super Regional round of the NCAA
tournament.
Tyler Henley scored the eventual
game-winning run after lining a one-out triple into right-centerfield that
prompted LSU (40-22) to bring its infielders in for Buchanan's at-bat.
Rice (44-17) advanced to play Tulane, the
winner of the New Orleans Regional. Ironically, the two schools will become
brethren of sorts on July 1 when the Owls join the Green Wave in Conference
USA.
