Coach Billy Godwin will unveil East Carolina's 2006 baseball team in a fan-friendly setting on Saturday, Jan. 28, as ECU hosts its sixth annual "Meet the Pirates" luncheon.

The event, scheduled to start at approximately 11:30 a.m. at the Murphy Center's Harvey Banquet Hall, provides a catered baseball-style meal and an opportunity for fans to get autographs and photos of the Diamond Pirates and Godwin, the team's first-year head coach.

A limited number of tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis at $7 for adults and $3 for children. Advance reservations are required and may be made by calling the ECU Sports Marketing Office at (252) 737-4530.

Coming off seven straight NCAA postseason berths, the Pirates will open their season with a three-game series against Maryland at Clark-LeClair Stadium the weekend of Feb. 10-12.

WGHB-AM 1250 and WDLX-AM 930 plan to provide “Arrrrgh” T-shirts to the first 1,250 fans in attendance at Wednesday night's East Carolina-Memphis basketball game.

The Pirates Sports Radio Network affiliates, which bill themselves as Pirate Radio 1250 and 930, indicated in a Tuesday press release they would ask for a two-dollar donation for each T-shirt with all donations destined for the ECU Pirate Club.

The T-shirts will be distributed at Gate 2 inside Minges Coliseum at the Dowdy Student Stores concession area, noted the release.

The Pirates and Tigers are set to tip off at 7 p.m. in what will be the Conference USA opener for both teams.
