BIRMINGHAM — After a charter jet
flight, East Carolina's
football party arrived in Birmingham shortly after 5:30 local time on
Tuesday night.
Pirate Coach Skip Holtz was the
first off of bus number one at the Winfrey Hotel. Holtz was obviously thrilled to have his
team in a bowl game in his second year as head coach.
"I could see it in their eyes,"
said Holtz upon his arrival in Birmingham. "They were really flying
around this morning at practice and I know they are all glad to be
here."
Painters worked into the night
getting the field at Legion Field ready for the week. East Carolina will
practice for the first time in Birmingham on Wednesday morning.
"We've done all of the hard work,"
said Holtz. "We'll be in shorts this week getting set for Saturday's
game."
East Carolina's Wednesday workout
at Legion Field will be at 9 a.m. The Pirates will then be guests of the
Comedy Club Stardome for the Birmingham Team Dinner on Wednesday night.
