As reaction continued
following East Carolina's
announcement that a pair of Beasley Broadcast Group stations
would be the flagships for the ISP Sports-run Pirate radio network for the
next five years, ECU athletic director Terry Holland weighed in with a
strong rebuttal to sharp criticism about the deal that had appeared on an
Internet message board.
In an in-depth
statement posted Monday afternoon on ECU's official athletics Web site,
Holland delved into the background history and recounted the process that
led to the selection of WSFL-FM "Classic Rock 106.5 FM" and WNCT-AM "Talk
1070" as the network's flagship stations.

Officials of Pirate
Radio 1250/930,
whose three-year run as an affiliate of the network
will end under ECU's new broadcast arrangement, also publicly
addressed the developments. Station executives Troy Dreyfus and Troy Ellerbe
issued a statement on their company's Web site regarding the future course
of Pirate Radio 1250.
