When it comes to streaks,
East Carolina's loss was Morgan State's gain in the Bears' 76-70 win
over the Pirates Monday night in Baltimore.
While extending ECU's
losing skid to four games, the outcome began a mini-streak for Morgan
State, which won its second game in a row after having lost six straight
to open the season.
Jamar Smith scored a
game-high 22 points and grabbed 7 rebounds to pace the Bears, who also
got 19 points from Joseph McLean and 13 from Ronald Timus.

Coly each grabbed 7 rebounds, helping Morgan State control the boards
35-25. No East Carolina player had more than three rebounds.
Darryl Jenkins' 18 points
was tops for the Pirates, who also got double-figure scoring from
Courtney Captain and John Fields with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Morgan State (2-6) scored
more than enough points from the free throw line to account for the
final margin. The Bears made 21 of 34 from the charity stripe, while ECU
(4-5) converted 14 of 23.
The victory squared the
balance sheet between the teams for the season. The Pirates
defeated the Bears 86-67 on Nov. 11 in Greenville.
East Carolina will
return to action Thursday night when it hosts Winthrop at 7 p.m.
