Southern Miss extends Bower pact through '09
HATTIESBURG
— Southern Mississippi coach Jeff Bower has agreed to a two-year extension,
keeping him on the sideline through the 2009 season.
Terms of the
extension were not available late Wednesday.
Bower, a
former Southern Miss quarterback, capped his 15th season coaching the Golden
Eagles last month by beating Arkansas State in the New Orleans Bowl. He is
the longest-tenured football coach in Southern Miss history and the dean of
coaches in Conference USA.
Bower has
led Southern Miss to 12 straight winning seasons and is a three-time C-USA
coach of the year. With a record of 103-72-1, he is the second-winningest
coach in school history, trailing only Thad "Pie" Vann.
