Omaha scratched from ECU itinerary — for now

East Carolina's quest to reach the College World Series — a bold journey unabashedly mapped out by its non-flinching coach, Keith LeClair — was sidetracked until 2003 when host Clemson thrashed the Pirates Sunday to win the regional championship.

C-USA/Carolinas: Clemson, Cougars, 'Cocks advance

Chris Snyder had three hits, including a home run, as No. 11 Houston beat No. 15 Arizona State, 8-3, to advance to the NCAA baseball super-regionals. The Cougars' Conference USA mates, East Carolina and South Florida, were eliminated by Clemson and Florida State, respectively. South Carolina joined the Tigers as the Carolinas' only representatives in the last round before Omaha as Wake Forest and North Carolina fell by the wayside... C-USA & Carolinas regional capsules...
