Freshman guard Lorenzo
Brown scored 16 points and four of his teammates joined him in double
figures as North Carolina State defeated East Carolina 85-65 Wednesday
night in an opening round game of the Charleston (SC) Classic.
ECU led 23-22 when N.C.
State sophomore forward Richard Howell's jumper with 4:58 remaining in
the first half launched the Wolpack on a 42-10 run that overlapped well
into the second half.
The explosion left State
in command 64-33 with 12:15 left in the game.
Sophomore forward Scott
Wood had 13 points, sophomore center DeShawn Painter scored 12, freshman
guard Ryan Harrow added 11 and junior guard C.J. Williams contributed 10
for the Wolfpack.
Painter and Harrow also
hit the double-figure mark in other categories, the former grabbing 10
rebounds and the latter dishing out 10 assists.
Sophomore guard Corvonn
Gaines scored 11 points for ECU, while senior guard Brock Young and
freshman forward Robert Sampson added 10 apiece.

Chad Wynn, who had 8 points, saw their first action since the Pirates'
season-opening
win over Erskine. The pair
missed ECU's Monday night
victory over Campbell with
injuries.
The Pirates face Charlotte
in a losers bracket game Friday night (8:30 p.m.; TV: MASN). The 49ers
fell to George Mason 78-56 in Thursday's opening round.
