Southern Miss star receiver lost for season
HATTIESBURG — Southern Mississippi star
receiver Antwon Courington will miss the rest of the season after injuring a
knee in last week's victory over Central Florida.
He tore the anterior cruciate ligament
and cartilage in his left knee during the 52-31 victory, the team said. He
will have surgery Oct. 26.
Courington had two touchdown catches in
the victory. In five games, he has 24 receptions, 329 yards and five TDs.
His backup, Tavarres Williams, will
miss two to three weeks with a strained medial collateral ligament, and
junior-college transfer Josh Barnes will start Friday night against UAB,
coach Jeff Bower said.
