Amato resurfaces on Bowden's FSU staff
Florida State football coach Bobby
Bowden has announced that Chuck Amato will return to the Seminole staff
as executive associate head coach and linebackers coach.
Amato, who coached at Florida State
from 1982-99, was released in December after seven seasons as head coach at
his alma mater, N.C. State. He replaces Kevin Steele, who resigned from the
Seminoles staff in January to become Alabama's defensive coordinator.
Jagodzinski gets warm welcome at BC hoops
New Boston College football
coach Jeff Jagodzinski was introduced during a first-half
timeout of the Eagles' 82-63 basketball win over visiting Miami
on Tuesday night and received an enthusiastic standing ovation.
After the school fight song, "For
Boston," the former Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator took the
microphone and said, "This is a great place, and I'm proud to be your
football coach. We're going to go get it done."
"Jags" was a former assistant coach on
Steve Logan's staff at East Carolina. Logan has joined the Eagles as
offensive coordinator under his former assistant.
BC boots basketball players Williams, McLain
Boston College basketball coach Al
Skinner has announced the permanent dismissal of junior starting center Sean
Williams and junior reserve forward Akida McLain, dealing a huge blow to the
Eagles' talent level, according to a Boston Globe report.
The troubled duo, both of whom had been
suspended at the beginning of this season and last, were let go for an
unspecified violation of team rules.
Projected as a potential NBA lottery
pick, the 6-foot-10-inch Williams averaged 12.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5
blocked shots in 15 games this season. He is BC's career leader in blocked
shots (with 193 in 69 games) and was the ACC leader in rejections (5.1
average) this season.
