Wake football team loses four to suspension
WINSTON-SALEM — Wake Forest
suspended four players Friday for breaking team and athletics department
rules.
Sophomore receiver Kevin
Marion, junior defensive tackle Jyles Tucker, sophomore special-teams
performer Travo Woods and redshirt freshman tackle Eric Gaskins were
suspended indefinitely, according to statement released Friday.
The school did not specify
what rules were broken.
Marion has played in all eight
games and had provided the Demon Deacons with big-play capability. He had
173 all-purpose yards against Florida State, scoring the team's first
touchdown on a 67-yard, end-around sweep and later adding a 1-yard score.
A week earlier, Marion caught
a 6-yard touchdown pass with 33 seconds left to beat Clemson.
Tucker has played in all eight
games, starting five. Woods had seen limited action, while Gaskins has not
played in a game.
Wake,
which defeated East Carolina 44-34 in
Winston-Salem on Sept. 17, plays at Duke on Saturday.
