TOURIST ATHLETES
Wednesday morning's two hours-plus
practice session won't be the only highlight East Carolina's football
players will remember about their second full day in Honolulu.
The Pirates made an
afternoon pilgrimage to the historic Pearl Harbor naval
installation, the site of the surprise Japanese attack
66 years ago this month that propelled the United States
into World War II. The team visited the USS Arizona
Memorial and the Pearl Harbor Museum.
In the evening,
less somber activities were on the players' agenda. The
ECU team was set to join the Boise State contingent for
a Royal Hawaiian Luau on the beach.
Thursday's schedule
includes serious practice time as well as more leisure
pursuits as Coach Skip Holtz and his charges move a day
closer to their matchup with the 22-ranked Broncos in
the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl (Aloha Stadium, Sunday, 8 p.m.,
ESPN).
