Rouse Makes It Official — He'll Be a Pirate

From ECU Sports Information

GREENVILLE — Corey Rouse, a senior a Kinston High School, has signed a national letter-of-intent to play basketball at East Carolina, Pirate head coach Bill Herrion announced on Tuesday.

A 6-8, 190-pound forward, Rouse is the first player to sign with the Pirates during the early signing period.

As a junior last season, Rouse averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks per game and led Kinston to the 3A high school state championship game, earning East Region Most Valuable Player honors along the way. Rouse also received first team all-conference accolades and all-area honors.

Rouse attended a pair of select camps for the top high school players in the country this past summer — the Top Five Prep Stars camp in Charlotte and the NBA Players Association camp in Washington, D.C.

"I`m extremely happy and excited to have Corey joining our basketball program," said Herrion. "It is very important that as we continue to build a program that we keep local kids at home. Corey has a lot of athletic ability and has the potential to be a very good player."
