Preseason basketball rouser
costly for Pirates
The aftermath of "Minges Madness"
turned out not to be so festive for East Carolina frontcourt player David
Bell.
The junior forward will be out
indefinitely due to an injury he suffered to his left knee during the
fan-friendly event, the school announced Tuesday.
"Minges Madness," held Oct. 21 inside
Minges Coliseum's Williams Arena, marked the celebratory launch of the
Pirates' preseason regimen and included entertainment and refreshments for
ECU students and a brief intra-squad scrimmage.
Bell sat out the 2004-05 season after
transferring from LaSalle University, where he played his freshman and
sophomore seasons.
Bell played in 59 games during his
two-year stint at LaSalle, where he averaged 6.8 points and 3.7 rebounds per
game.
ECU will informally open its season
with a home exhibition game against North Carolina Central on Friday, Nov.
12, at 7 p.m. (View
the Pirates' entire 2005-06 schedule.)
From an
ECU Athletics release.
