Ex-ECU coach Thompson returns to coaching
Ole Miss football coach Ed Orgeron
has announced that veteran defensive coordinator John Thompson will be
joining his Rebel coaching staff in that same capacity.
Orgeron has been his own defensive
coordinator during his first two years as head coach at Ole Miss.
Thompson was head coach at East
Carolina for the 2003 and 2004 seasons with a record of 3-20.
Kentucky makes Brooks a million dollar man
Kentucky football coach
Rich Brooks has a new four-year contract that includes a
university option for a fifth year.
The new contract replaces Brooks’
initial five-year deal, which had one year remaining, and covers the 2007-10
seasons, plus the school's option to renew for 2011.
Including endorsements and broadcasting
services, the coach’s base pay will be $1 million per year, with additional
incentives for winning five or more Southeastern Conference games, the SEC
Eastern Division or overall league championship, participation in bowl
games, increases in football ticket revenues, and academic performance by
the team.
Pac-10 games moved to Thursdays for ESPN
Oregon will take part in one of two
Thursday night Pacific-10 Conference match-ups during the 2007 football
season that are part of the league’s new television contract with ESPN.
Oregon’s game at Arizona, previously
scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 10, in Tucson, AZ, has been shifted to
Thursday, Nov. 15, with the start time scheduled for 9 p.m.
The second Pac-10 Thursday game
televised on ESPN will be Southern Cal at Arizona State on Thanksgiving day,
Nov. 22.
