Producers working on Marshall film title

Producers of a feature film about the 1970 Marshall University plane crash are trying to work out details that will allow the movie's title to be taken from a school cheer.

The Parthenon, the Marshall student newspaper, reported Tuesday that the Warner Brothers film will be called ``We Are ... Marshall.'' The campus paper cited a source at Warner Nrothers.

``We Are ... Marshall'' is a potential title but the film's producers have said there are legal issues preventing the cheer's use, according to WSAZ-TV.

``Once you see the movie you will understand why Warner Brothers would want to call it 'We Are ... Marshall,''' Marshall Vice President H. Keith Spears told The Parthenon.

The plane crash is considered the worst sports disaster in history. Seventy-five players, coaches, supporters and flight crew members were returning from a football game at East Carolina on Nov. 14, 1970, when their chartered jet crashed short of the runway at Tri-State Airport in Kenova.

The film deals with how the community rebuilt after the tragedy, said producer Basil Iwanyk.
