'Ride with The Voice'
fundraiser set for June
The third annual "Ride With The Voice"
motorcycle excursion benefiting the Eastern North Carolina School for the
Deaf will be held this year on June 10, according to a release at
ecupirates.com.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. at J&E
Harley Davidson in Greenville with the ride commencing at 10 a.m. The ride,
a pet project of East Carolina play-by-play announcer and Director of
Electronic Media Jeff Charles, will conclude at approximately 11:30 a.m. at
Ron Ayer Motorsports. The cost of the ride is $10 per motorcycle.
All riders will received complimentary
breakfast from Krispy Kreme and lunch provided by Domino's and Logan's
Roadhouse. The first 200 riders will each receive official "Ride With The
Voice" t-shirts.
Over the past two years, 200
motorcyclists have joined Charles, ECU's longtime broadcast voice, in
support of the athletic programs at the Wilson school. The Eastern North
Carolina School for the Deaf is one of only two deaf schools in the state of
North Carolina and serves the entire region of eastern North Carolina.

Tech to host Irish and ESPN GameDay
Georgia Tech's season-opening football
game against Notre Dame on Sept. 2 will have an 8 p.m. kickoff at Bobby Dodd
Stadium at Historic Grant Field and will be nationally televised by ABC,
according to an announcement from the Atlantic Coast Conference and ABC.
In addition to national television
coverage for the game, Georgia Tech will be the center of the college
football world that Saturday as ESPN's College GameDay will originate from
the Tech campus.
East Carolina will open its 2006 season
at Navy at 5:30 p.m. that day.

Florida running back Emmitt Smith was
among the 13 players and two coaches selected from a national ballot of 77
candidates and a pool of hundreds of eligible nominees for induction into
the 2006 College Football Hall of Fame Division I-A Class, as announced by
the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.
