Compiled from staff reports

ECU
ticket office temporarily relocates
The East Carolina
athletic ticket office will temporarily move its box office location to
Minges Coliseum, effective at the start of business today, according to an
announcement by the university's athletic media relations department.
Renovations and a
refurbishing of ECU's main athletic ticketing location, which is expected to
take up to two weeks, prompted the relocation.
Ticket customers can
park on the northwest side of Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, adjacent to Minges
Coliseum, and access the box office at the service windows traditionally
used during football and basketball season opposite the Murphy Center.
The ticket office's
phone system will not be affected as fans can still call 328-4500 for
information during the duration of the temporary arrangement. The office's
hours are from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from
8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday.
Irish safety's ring debut: Bell rung quickly
Notre Dame football
defensive captain Tommy Zbikowski went on the offensive early in his
professional boxing debut Saturday night, knocking out Robert Bell in 49
seconds of the first round, according to an account by The Chicago Tribune.
Zbikowski dropped Bell
with a series of sharp lefts 30 seconds into the first round. Then, after
waiting for referee Arthur Mercante, Jr., to check Bell as he rose on wobbly
feet, Zbikowski rushed across the ring and unloaded an overhand right to the
head that spun Bell across the ropes and convinced Mercante to stop the
bout.
Miners
seventh in NCAA men's track
The Texas-El Paso men
finished seventh in the NCAA outdoor track and field championships in
Sacramento. Churandy Martina earned three All-America honors, while Mickael
Hanany earned two as the duo combined for 17.5 of the Miners' 31 points,
according to the Conference USA web site.
Martina earned two
individual honors for his efforts in the 100-meter dash (6th) and 200-meter
dash (4th) and also added an honor for his anchor leg effort on the Miners'
4x100-meter relay team that placed third.
UTEP also had the top
finish among C-USA teams on the women's side, tying for 34th with seven
points. The Rice women were close behind, tying for 37th with six points.
The Houston women finished in a tie for 47th with four points.
